6th December 2022 at 4:27 pmCongratulations on your successful concert. It was a memorable event. I enjoyed the new pieces Lighthouse, Beati, Come My Way and the new arrangement of God Only Knows. I could hear echoes of Mr Prizeman’s style as well as the composer’s own personality in each piece. The new music harked back to the early years of this choir, and yet, sounded contemporary. I liked how they transcended the history of Libera and moved the choir’s repertoire with the times. Libera showed us again that it truly lived up to the meaning of its name – the boys were not confined to performing one genre of music, but they were free to sing any music that they loved, from ancient to modern, old and new. I look forward to the release of these pieces in your next album.
Your young singers were very skilful in their interpretation of the new music and your more experienced singers added a lot of emotional depth to each piece with their lower harmonies. To your singers who had their final on-stage performance with you this year, I would like to thank each and every one of them for dedicating their spare time to music making and for bringing joy to the hearts of their listeners through the years.

3rd July 2023 at 10:37 amI heard Ave Verum (Albinoni’s Adagio in G minor) in this concert and, I believed, it was the first occasion that version was performed. When I left my thoughts here, I omitted mentioning this piece because it was such a powerful and stunning performance. I could not find the words to describe its beauty.
For a few minutes, many of us were transported by the choir to another world where the story told in the words of this piece was played out vividly. The lead singer filled the entire space with his voice and gave a breathtaking performance. The energy coming from the sound created by the choir and the instrumentalists was electrifying. When it came to an end, I was a little disappointed that those few minutes had passed too quickly. Six months later, I was glad to have another chance to enjoy this piece.
Thank you to the choir, the instrument players and the conductor for bringing this piece to life that night. Thank you to the writing and creative team for producing an incredible piece and to the teaching staff at Libera for bringing out the best from the boys.
